5 to 9 Books is a virtual bookstore dedicated to supporting you in discovering new passion, purpose, and community outside of work hours. In a world where free time is scarce and productivity is compulsory, 5 to 9 believes in the value of simple pleasures and carefree enjoyment. We believe that books can serve as accessible introductions to activities, hobbies, projects, and passions that bring joy and purpose to our lives outside of work.
5 to 9 strives to uplift and amplify diverse voices from all publishing pathways and endeavors to recommend books that will inspire personal growth and engagement for the novice, intermediate, and skilled individual. We believe that it’s never too late (or too early) to find a new fascination and our curated recommendations will help guide you to your next favorite thing.

Our Founder
Olivia W. McCoy (they/them) has always wanted to work with books. When they were young, they wanted to be a poet and wrote on every scrap of paper they could find, submitted to journals, took online classes, and carried around a (full-size) dictionary and thesaurus everywhere they went. It was in college that they realized their passion is actually introducing books to others.
Olivia’s professional background is in book marketing and independent publishing. Outside of running 5 to 9 Books, they work as a marketing and publicity professional promoting books to readers and the media.
